The Hijrah
The Prophet ﷺ migrated from Makkah to Yathrib — renamed Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, 'the Radiant City' — marking year 1 of the Islamic calendar.

Mosque of Islam
Quba Mosque, on the city's southern edge, was the first mosque ever built — praying two rakʿah there carries the reward of an Umrah.

Battle of Uhud
At Mount Uhud, north of the city, seventy companions fell — among them Hamzah (RA), the Master of Martyrs.
